Motoring Echo can confirm that on 14 September 2025, YANGWANG launched the U9 Xtreme, setting a new record as the fastest car in the world with a top speed of 490.484 km/h (304.48 mph). This electric hypercar, formerly known as the U9 Track/Special Edition, demonstrates a commitment to zero emissions while delivering extraordinary power and speed.

Key features of the U9X include a groundbreaking 1200V powertrain, a lithium-iron-phosphate Blade Battery with a 30C discharge rate, four high-speed motors generating over 3,000 PS, and advanced DiSus-X suspension. Stella Li, BYD’s Executive VP, expressed pride in this achievement, thanking the dedicated team and driver Marc Basseng, who skillfully set the speed record.
