Škoda has a rich history spanning 130 years in the automotive industry, showcasing a collection of classic models that have significantly influenced automotive design. The brand’s design team often draws inspiration from these iconic vehicles, reinterpreting them through its Modern Solid design philosophy.
The latest classic reimagined for the electric era is the legendary Škoda 110 R coupé. Designed by Richard Švec, this 2025 reboot pays homage to the 1970s model while offering a bold, contemporary interpretation.
Richard’s design maintains the spirit of the original but embraces modern aesthetics with clean lines and geometric shapes. Key features include flared wheel arches, a visible roll cage, and distinctive side air intakes that serve as cooling ducts for the battery pack.
High-tech elements like low-drag cameras replacing traditional mirrors and hidden headlights reveal a focus on innovation. “Lighting conveys so much about a car’s era,” Richard explains, opting for Škoda’s new Tech-loop lighting signature instead of retro styles.
The design combines heritage and modernity, capturing the elegance of the original while being tailored for electric propulsion. Although the 110 R is currently just a concept with no production plans, it reflects Škoda’s dedication to balancing its classic roots with future-forward design.
