S1 LM sells for $20,630,000 million at Las Vegas auction, the highest-ever new car sale at auction (excluding charity).

Gordon Murray Special Vehicles announced that the S1 LM supercar (Chassis #1) sold for $20,630,000 (£15,772,773.78) at an auction in Las Vegas. This sale set a record as the most expensive new car ever sold at auction, excluding charitable sales. It is the last of five vehicles produced in this exclusive series.

The S1 LM made a spectacular entrance at the amfAR charity Gala Dinner, held alongside the Las Vegas Formula One Grand Prix. A helicopter lowered the car into the Wynn Las Vegas venue, creating a memorable spectacle.

Bidders at the gala and remote bidders from around the world competed fiercely, resulting in a record hammer price that will be noted in the luxury and automotive industries.

The Winning Experience
The successful bidder will enjoy a unique experience beyond owning this rare supercar. They will have:

  • Personal sessions with Professor Gordon Murray CBE to customize their S1 LM.
  • Development drives with Dario Franchitti, a four-time IndyCar champion, to help optimize performance.
  • Exclusive access to the GMSV team, allowing input in the final vehicle development stages.
  • The chance to be part of the design and engineering process of this exceptional car.

This experience includes a special 500-page book documenting the S1 LM’s creation, featuring original sketches and notes from Gordon Murray.

Professor Gordon Murray CBE said, “This world record auction result is a defining moment for our entire team and the automotive industry. The S1 LM reflects everything I have learned over six decades in design—a true expression of driving perfection, engineering beauty, and a return to elegance. To see it valued this highly is truly humbling.”

  • A body made of ultra-lightweight carbon fiber panels.
  • An interior with Naked Polish Carbon Fibre and unique artistic details.

Every detail of the S1 LM embodies Gordon Murray’s seven principles: Driving Perfection, Lightweight, Engineering Art, A Return to Beauty, Exclusivity, and The Customer Journey.

The GMSV S1 LM was unveiled in August 2025 during Monterey Car Week, where it was announced that a single individual purchased all five supercars. Details about the owners of the remaining four chassis have not been disclosed.
