Renault is gearing up to electrify the Goodwood Festival of Speed with an impressive lineup that spotlights the UK dynamic debut of the Renault 5 Turbo 3E. The French automaker will also unveil two eagerly anticipated models: the Renault Twingo E-Tech electric and the Renault 4 E-Tech electric ‘plein sud,’ the latter featuring a fully electric-powered opening canvas roof.

Renault 5 Turbo 3E: A Star Attraction

The Renault 5 Turbo 3E will take on the festival’s iconic hillclimb, showcasing its capabilities before an expected 250,000-strong crowd. This dynamic demonstration marks the UK debut of Renault’s new electric ‘mini-supercar,’ promising to capture the attention of motorsport enthusiasts and electric vehicle aficionados alike.

A Nod to Heritage, Powered by Innovation

Drawing inspiration from the legendary Renault 5 Turbo and Turbo 2 of the 1980s, the Turbo 3E blends retro-futuristic design cues with leading-edge electric performance. Twin rear-mounted in-wheel motors deliver an astonishing 555 horsepower and 4,800 Nm of torque, crowning it as the most powerful road-going Renault to date.

Blistering Performance and Fast Charging

Weighing in at approximately 1,450 kg thanks to a carbon-fibre superstructure, the Turbo 3E accelerates from 0–62 mph in under 3.5 seconds, rivaling traditional supercars. Its advanced 800-volt system enables ultra-fast 330 kW charging, taking the battery from 15% to 80% in just 15 minutes. The 70 kWh battery offers a projected range of over 400 km, pending official homologation.

UK Debut for Production-Ready Turbo 3E

This year signals a new chapter as the production-ready Turbo 3E makes its UK dynamic debut. Previous concept versions have wowed Goodwood crowds with their drift-focused dynamics and rally-inspired aesthetics, setting the stage for the official launch.

Limited Edition and Personalisation

The Turbo 3E is custom-built to order, starting at £140,000. Production is capped at 1,980 individually numbered units—a nod to the original Renault 5 Turbo’s 1980 debut.

Reservations are now open, offering buyers the opportunity to personalize their vehicle with an extensive selection of exterior liveries, interior materials, and finishes.

Fabrice Cambolive, CEO of Renault, commented: “The Renault 5 Turbo 3E embodies the boldness and spirit of innovation that have always defined our brand. By reinventing the iconic Renault 5 Turbo for the electric era, we’ve created a mini-supercar that marries exceptional performance with state-of-the-art technology. Debuting the production-ready model at Goodwood is a fitting tribute to this spirit of performance and excitement.”

Renault’s Electric Icons Take Centre Stage: Twingo E-Tech Electric: Making Its Mark

Joining the Turbo 3E, the Renault Twingo E-Tech electric will also make its UK dynamic debut at Goodwood, giving visitors a first look at Renault’s vision for accessible, next-generation electric mobility.

Dubbed “Le Frog” for its distinctive bright green paintwork and expressive, wide-set headlights, the Twingo E-Tech epitomizes Renault’s philosophy of making electric cars that are fun and full of character.

Positioned as a game-changer for the A-segment, the Twingo E-Tech electric brings together playful design, a city-friendly compact form, and the latest in electric technology. With a targeted starting price below £20,000, it aims to democratize electric mobility, delivering up to 163 miles of WLTP range from its LFP battery and powered by a spirited 60 kW motor. Features such as One Pedal driving and the OpenR Link multimedia system with Google built-in, typically reserved for larger vehicles, are also available, enhancing the urban driving experience.

Renault 4 E-Tech Electric ‘Plein Sud’ Debuts

Visitors can also explore the Renault 4 E-Tech electric ‘plein sud,’ which boasts an electric-powered opening canvas roof. Operable via button or voice command, the roof offers an 80 × 92 cm view, blending open-air freedom with impressive sound insulation when closed.
