Carwow’s, Mat Watson is in a Lamborghini Aventador SV, while Tomi is driving a Porsche 911 GT3 RS. They’re going head-to-head against… a VW Beetle?! But this is no ordinary Beetle; it’s Electric Classic Cars’ Bug Zappa! This might be one of the most unique EVs we’ve ever featured on this channel. Let’s take a look at the stats.
Starting with the Lamborghini is powered by a 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine that delivers 750 hp and 690 Nm of torque. This power is sent to all four wheels via a 7-speed gearbox, and the car weighs approximately 1,775 kg. When new, the Lamborghini had a price tag of around £238,000.
The Porsche has a 4.0-litre naturally aspirated flat-six engine that produces 525 hp and 465 Nm of torque. This power is directed to the rear wheels only through a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox, which weighs just 1,450 kg. With the Weissach Package, the car costs around £230,000.
Finally, we have the Bug Zappa! Although it resembles a classic VW Beetle, it is powered by two Tesla motors, generating 800 hp and 930 Nm of torque. A motor is on each axle, providing all-wheel drive. It is the lightest of the trio, weighing 1,300 kg, and is priced around £75,000.
So, will the all-electric Beetle claim an easy victory, or can the Lamborghini or Porsche pull ahead? There’s only one way to find out!
