Get ready for a hot hatch showdown! As Carwow’s Mat Watson gets to testing out the all-new Audi S3 against its key rivals to see how it differs from the previous generation.

Starting with the Audi, it’s powered by a 2-litre, 4-cylinder turbo engine that can produce 333hp and 420 Nm of torque. It comes with all-wheel drive and costs just over £44,000 when new. It’s the heaviest car here, weighing in at 1,610kg.

Next up is the VW Golf R. It’s also powered by a 2-litre, 4-cylinder turbo engine but produces 320hp and 420 Nm in this instance. It’s one of the lightest cars here, weighing 1,525kg, and it’s the cheapest at around £43,000.

Following that is the BMW M135i. Again, it’s powered by a 2-liter, 4-cylinder engine, delivering 306hp and 450Nm. Power is sent to all four wheels, and it also weighs 1,525kg like the Golf. However, it’s slightly more expensive, costing around £44,000.

And last but not least, there is the AMG A35. It’s powered by a 2-litre, 4-cylinder turbo engine, generating 306hp and 400 Nm. It weighs 1,570 kg and is the most expensive car in this line-up, priced around £46,000. So, will the S3 take an easy win or could another car snatch it? Stay tuned to find out!
