Make sure to keep your car keys safe, especially when visiting the beach. Start Rescue recommends taking these measures to avoid losing your keys:
- After locking your car, store the keys in a waterproof bag or a secure pocket in your backpack.
- Consider hiding the keys inside clothing with an internal pocket to keep them safe.
- For added security, use a “Faraday” pouch to prevent keyless theft.
- Fit your keys with a security tracker tag to locate them even if they get buried under the sand.
Lee Puffett, the Managing Director of Start Rescue, advises that taking these simple steps can help prevent the hassle and expense of losing your keys. Although Start Rescue provides cover for lost or broken keys and keys locked inside the car, it’s better to keep them safe in the first place.
