Boreham Motorworks proudly introduces an authentic continuation vehicle, built from the ground up without a donor car. This blueprint-accurate vehicle features official chassis numbers from the original manufacturer, combining the charm of classic cars with modern engineering and advanced manufacturing through our innovative Continumod™.
Fifty years after the last limited edition of the Ford Escort Mk1 RS lineage—the Mk1 RS2000—we accept applications for just 150 cars, each with continuation chassis numbers. As an official brand license partner of Ford Motor Company, Boreham Motorworks is committed to preserving the legacy of Ford’s most iconic vehicles.
Our vehicle represents the ultimate evolution of the Mk1 and RS lineage, designed for driving enthusiasts. Renowned for exceptional performance and handling, the Escort Rallye Sport line established a new standard for high-performance cars. By blending modern technology and bespoke engineering, we honor this legacy with our Continumod™, which requires no donor vehicle and is built using advanced manufacturing techniques.
Wayne Burgess, Design Director, has a personal connection to the Ford Escort project as his first car was a Mk2 Escort. His vision for the new Ford Escort Mk1 RS is shaped by his passion for the model’s iconic heritage and performance.
Exterior Design: The exterior emphasizes purity and simplicity by eliminating unnecessary ornamentation. Key features include the removal of the quarter bumpers and leading direction indicators for a sleeker silhouette, a billet-machined aluminum grille surround, and headlights inspired by classic racing cars. The updated taillights maintain an iconic look while enhancing visibility. Every design choice, from the refined door handles to the compact wheels, combines elegance with modern performance.
Interior Design: Inside, the Escort Mk1 RS focuses on simplicity and driver functionality. The low, horizontal dashboard creates a sense of openness, while the compact binnacle ensures an unobstructed view of the road. The deep-dish, three-spoke steering wheel offers a tactile connection, and the instrument panel blends classic analog style with modern convenience.
Burgess states, “Our goal was to honor the simplicity of the original design while meeting modern performance expectations. Every detail captures the essence of what made the Mk1 special, creating a car that reflects on its heritage while embracing a new era of Peak Analogue® performance.”
