Bridgestone has partnered with Young Driver to promote road safety and educate young drivers about the importance of tires. Over the next year, they aim to engage with 320,000 pupils and parents across the UK. This collaboration coincides with the UK’s National Tyre Safety Month, organized by TyreSafe, which takes place in October.
Young Driver provides driving lessons to around 140,000 youngsters aged 10 to 17 each year, using a variety of vehicles and operating at 70 private venues across the UK. Bridgestone is now the exclusive tire partner for Young Driver and plans to educate young drivers about the crucial role of tires in car safety and the importance of regular tire checks.
Andrea Manenti, Bridgestone’s North Region Vice President, expressed excitement about the partnership, emphasizing the significant impact Young Driver has on young motorists. Bridgestone aims to educate young drivers about tyre performance and maintenance, capitalizing on the lasting impression created by Young Driver’s programs.
The partnership will also involve tyre safety giveaways, interactive quizzes on the Young Driver app, and collaboration with the Young Driver Foundation. This not-for-profit organisation works with road safety charities and schools.
Additionally, the partnership aligns with Bridgestone’s ‘Become a Bridgestone Road Safety Hero’ campaign, which has conducted hundreds of free tyre safety checks at various UK venues. The campaign also highlights the importance of tire checks through postcards distributed at events, providing safety tips and maintenance advice.
Ian Mulingani, Managing Director at Young Driver, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, emphasizing the importance of introducing tire safety to future drivers at a young age.
Bridgestone’s partnership with Young Driver reflects its commitment to providing social and customer value as a sustainable solutions company, as well as its E8 Commitment, which guides its strategic priorities and actions across all business areas.
