BYD’s DOLPHIN SURF has earned a top five-star safety rating from Euro NCAP, cementing its position as a leading model in the compact electric vehicle (EV) market. Launched in Europe this spring and crowned the reigning World Urban Car of the Year, it scored highly across all key safety categories, proving that even affordable models can prioritise safety.

Euro NCAP’s assessment praised the DOLPHIN SURF’s excellent crash protection, giving it maximum points in side tests and an 82% score for Adult Occupant protection. It also achieved an impressive 86% for Child Occupant protection.

In the Vulnerable Road Users category, the autonomous emergency braking (AEB) system responded well to cyclists and motorcyclists, earning a 76% rating. In the Safety Assist section, the vehicle received a 77% score, thanks to effective AEB, driver-monitoring technologies, and lane-departure support.

Stella Li, Executive Vice President of BYD, emphasised the company’s focus on innovation and safety in the DOLPHIN SURF. This model represents the eighth five-star rating for BYD since entering the European market in 2022, joining other models such as the ATTO 3, SEAL, and TANG.
