The Type 00 is a concept car that symbolizes a fresh start for the Jaguar brand.
Why is this significant? Jaguar has faced such serious challenges that it has temporarily halted vehicle sales until 2026, during which time it will be rebooting with a range of high-end electric vehicles aimed at competing for buyers of luxury brands like Bentley.
The first production car under this new vision, an electric four-door GT, is expected to debut in late 2025. The Type 00 marks a clear distinction between Jaguar’s past and its future.
This concept introduces the design philosophy termed ‘Exuberant Modernism,’ which Jaguar promises will ensure that future models ‘Copy Nothing.’
Also, as Jaguar fans here at Motoring Echo, we have a deep appreciation for their racing heritage, which includes iconic models like the XK, C-Type, and the legendary E-Type—often regarded as the greatest Jaguar of all time.
However, the Type 00 represents one of the biggest gambles in the history of the automotive industry.
We genuinely hope Jaguar/JLR succeeds. Other vehicle manufacturers have tried the same rebranding strategy in the past and have not had good outcomes! Of course, there is a first time for everything, is there not?
