Broad Arrow Auctions, a Hagerty (NYSE: HGTY) company, is excited to announce the consignment of a highly original 1948 Ferrari 166 Spyder Corsa with coachwork by Carrozzeria Ansaloni for its inaugural Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este Auction (Estimate: €5,500,000 – €7,500,000). This car, chassis number 004 C, is one of two purchased by the Besana brothers, Ferrari’s earliest customers, and has a remarkable racing history, including a sixth-place finish at the 1948 Targa Florio and participation in the Mille Miglia.

Complete with Ferrari Classiche White Book certification, it retains its original body, chassis, 2.0-liter V12 engine, and five-speed racing gearbox. The car was owned by the same family from 1965 to 2015, with extensive documentation of its history. It has won numerous accolades, including awards at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance and was featured at Casa Ferrari.

Barney Ruprecht, VP of Auctions at Broad Arrow, states, “Chassis number 004 C represents the foundations of the legendary Ferrari brand and exemplifies our inaugural Italian auction perfectly.”
