A stunning 1963 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Roadster is set to be a highlight at H&H Classics’ inaugural auction at Kelham Hall in Nottinghamshire on September 10th. Estimated to sell for £650,000 to £750,000, this rare car is one of only 209 alloy block, Dunlop four-wheel disc brake models produced and features a matching numbers designation.
Lucas Gomersall from H&H Classics remarked, “This splendid 300SL Roadster is a perfect centrepiece for our debut auction. It was part of a private collection that included an earlier 300SL Gullwing, which we successfully sold.”
Originally supplied to America and in Europe since 1995, the car underwent an extensive restoration from 1996 to 1997 and was later configured as a ‘rallywagen’ in 2003. It showcases a unique patina, allowing for enjoyment “as is” or full restoration. The Roadster retains its original chassis, body, and gearbox, with the original differential supplied separately.
Prospective buyers can inspect the car on September 9th at the venue, and it will also be showcased at H&H’s final ‘Classics & Coffee’ event on August 13th.
