Bentley Motors has unveiled its latest luxury concept, the EXP 15, during the opening of its new design studio. This vehicle reflects Bentley’s modern design philosophy while honouring its early 20th-century Grand Tourer heritage.
The over five-meter-long EXP 15 features an iconic upright grille, a long ‘endless’ bonnet, and a rearward cabin, reminiscent of the 1930 Bentley Speed Six Gurney Nutting Sportsman coupe, known as the “Blue Train.” This design connects to Woolf Barnato, a former Bentley chairman, who famously raced a train to London. While not intended for production, the EXP 15 hints at future models, including a fully electric car.
Inside, the cabin design utilizes virtual reality software, offering configurations that include three seats and three doors for added luxury, along with unique storage solutions for pets and picnic seating.
Material choices blend traditional craftsmanship with sustainability, featuring a 100% wool textile from Fox Brothers in a damson ombre effect and lightweight, 3D-printed titanium finishes.
Robin Page, Bentley’s Director of Design, said, “Concept cars showcase our design language and test market trends.” The EXP 15 embodies five key design principles:
- Upright Elegance – maintaining a gently curved vertical line.
- Iconic Grille – a central vertical line preserving its historical significance.
- Endless Bonnet Line – a seamless flow that accommodates large engines and storage.
- Resting Beast – a relaxed stance emphasizing muscular proportions.
- Prestigious Shield – integrating the rear luggage section with the tailgate, showcasing the winged Bentley emblem.
Overall, the EXP 15 represents a blend of heritage and modern luxury in Bentley’s design future.
