The first commercial vehicle from Volvo Cars UK

Volvo Car UK unveils the EX30 Cargo, a new car-derived van based on the fully electric EX30.

Available as both EX30 Cargo and EX30 Cross Country Cargo for increased ground clearance.
Designed for business and fleet customers who need practical load space combined with premium comfort and safety.

Volvo Car UK has broadened its electric vehicle portfolio with the launch of the EX30 Cargo, a car-derived van tailored for business and fleet operators.

Based on the fully electric EX30 compact SUV, the Cargo variant offers enhanced practicality and load-carrying capacity while maintaining the comfort, technology, and safety features characteristic of Volvo’s passenger vehicles.

The conversion process sees the rear seats replaced by a flat floor and an access panel to the lower section, resulting in a maximum payload of 390kg and a load capacity of 1,000 litres. A dedicated payload bulkhead separates the cabin from the cargo space, and revised rear side panels and doors further increase usable load area.

The EX30 Cargo is the result of a second-stage conversion carried out by Volvo Car UK, transforming the electric SUV into a practical commercial vehicle. Two versions are available: the EX30 Cargo and the EX30 Cross Country Cargo, the latter offering increased ground clearance. The conversion applies to both newly ordered models and existing stock, covering Model Year (MY) 2026 and MY2027 vehicles.

For MY27, a new P3 (150hp) Extended Range powertrain will be introduced, providing customers with a lower power option compared to the P5 (272hp) while maintaining an electric range of up to 300 miles.

Additional practical features include extended rear door access for easier loading, a cargo work light to improve visibility in the load area, and an underfloor subframe that offers extra securing and mounting points to accommodate various commercial applications.

Jack Munford, Head of Fleet at Volvo Car UK, noted that while the company is primarily known for its passenger vehicles, there is significant demand among business owners and fleets for Volvo’s quality, safety, and technology in a compact commercial vehicle. “That is why we created the extremely practical EX30 Cargo,” Munford said.

The EX30 Cargo meets Volvo’s rigorous safety standards, having undergone extensive testing to ensure all safety systems operate as intended and maintain the high levels of protection associated with the Volvo brand.

Powertrain options for the EX30 Cargo include the P3 (150hp) and P5 (272hp) in Extended Range or standard forms, as well as the high-performance P8 (428hp) All Wheel Drive. Trim levels comprise Core, Plus, and Cross Country Plus.

The EX30 Cargo Core comes well equipped as standard, featuring Safe Space Technology, Google Automotive Services, and Adaptive Cruise Control. Front and rear Park Assist, a rear Park Assist camera, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also included.

Other features include automatic LED headlights, a 3-phase 11 kW onboard charger with heat pump for efficient electric driving, and 18-inch Aero alloy wheels.

The EX30 Cargo Plus builds on the standard specification by adding comfort, convenience, and design enhancements such as Pilot Assist and Digital Key Plus.

Interior upgrades include a Harman Kardon premium sound system, heated front seats and steering wheel, two-zone climate control, and wireless phone charging. The exterior features a dual-tone roof and 19-inch Aero alloy wheels.

The EX30 Cargo is now available for order, with prices starting at £36,010 OTR (P5 standard range). The model is offered exclusively through Volvo Car UK’s fleet sales channels.
