Kia has broadened its Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) portfolio with the unveiling of the PV5 Crew, a versatile conversion model engineered for both passenger and cargo applications. Derived from the PV5 Cargo L2/H1, the PV5 Crew facilitates swift, tool-free reconfiguration between crew and cargo modes, catering to dynamic operational demands.

The PV5 Crew is part of Kia’s ‘Made In Plant’ strategy to increase Kia PBV’s flexibility for mixed passenger and cargo operations.
The seamless, tool-free seat lever system enables a one-touch switch between two-seat cargo and five-seat crew configurations.

Crew. Cargo. Both—without compromise.
The PV5 Crew is integral to Kia’s ‘Made In Plant’ (MIP) conversion strategy, whereby vehicle modifications are completed within Kia’s own manufacturing facilities. Developed in partnership with specialized conversion firms, this strategy delivers factory-integrated solutions that offer enhanced customization. The model is targeted at businesses requiring versatile vehicle configurations to meet evolving daily requirements.

A single-touch seat lever mechanism enables operators to convert the cabin from a two-seat cargo setup to a five-seat crew arrangement within seconds. This system releases the recliner, tilts the seat cushion, and repositions the partition—all without the need for tools or operational downtime.

The interior features an integrated L-track mounting system, designed to secure cargo and accessories, thereby supporting a wide range of applications across industries including construction, maintenance, landscaping, and airport services. Additional amenities include conveniently located Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) outlets in the cargo bay and a robust, non-slip flooring solution to enhance safety during loading and unloading operations.

Offered as a factory-integrated, turnkey product within Kia’s flexible conversion program, the PV5 Crew is further supported by market-specific local conversion options. These allow for the reconfiguration of the PV5 Cargo into the PV5 Crew, accommodating additional fixed crew layouts and enabling adaptations of existing vehicles to suit specific operational needs.

“The introduction of the PV5 Crew marks a significant step in broadening Kia’s PBV range and underscores the company’s dedication to providing practical, adaptable solutions for the European market,” commented Erhan Eren, PBV Director at Kia Europe. “Operators frequently demand vehicles capable of accommodating both crew and cargo within a single work cycle. The PV5 Crew directly responds to this need with a configurable interior system that allows for rapid transitions, ensuring operational efficiency.”

Built on a strong foundation
The PV5 Crew is built upon the established engineering foundation of the PV5 Cargo L2/H1, recipient of the 2026 International Van of the Year (IVOTY) award. The model is based on Kia’s E-GMP.S (Electric-Global Modular for Service) platform, which is engineered for long-term durability, modularity, and advanced connectivity—including seamless integration with fleet management systems.

The vehicle provides a flexible cargo space, varying from 1,278mm in five-seat configuration to 1,965mm in two-seat mode. Depending on the chosen layout, cargo volume ranges from 2.4m³ to 3.7m³.

The PV5 Crew is powered by a 51.5kWh battery, offering an estimated all-electric range of up to 283km (WLTP, pending homologation). The maximum payload capacity is projected at 625kg.

Production of the PV5 Crew is scheduled to commence on 30 April 2026, with market availability to be confirmed at a later date.
