Dacia, the adventurous car brand, is proud to support record-breaking mountaineer Akke Rahman (42) on his quest to climb K2, which stands at 8,611 metres. Known as “The Savage Mountain,” K2 is regarded as more challenging than Everest because of its steep slopes, avalanches, and unpredictable weather.
Akke, who took up climbing six years ago after summiting Snowdon (1,085m), has since scaled notable peaks including Mont Blanc (4,810m) and Mount Kilimanjaro (5,895m) within a week. In 2020, he ascended Mount Elbrus (5,642m) in under 24 hours. In 2022, Akke became the first British Muslim to reach the summit of Mount Everest (8,849m), doing so while fasting for Ramadan.
His motivation is to inspire his children and others to engage with the outdoors; he has raised over £1 million for charity through his climbing endeavours. As a member of the Dacia Adventure Community, Akke represents a diverse group of explorers.
Akke expressed gratitude to Dacia for their support, stating, “For the first time, I feel part of something special.” Luke Broad, Dacia’s UK Brand Director, added that they are proud to back Akke’s challenge and look forward to his safe return.
Akke will acclimatise in the region before starting his ascent, aiming to reach K2’s summit by the end of the month.
