Summer tyres account for approximately 80% of annual global tyre sales, underscoring their critical importance within the automotive industry. In response, Michelin has unveiled two new product lines—the MICHELIN Primacy 5 energy and MICHELIN Pilot Sport 5 energy—aimed at addressing the evolving needs of modern mobility.
As the pace of vehicle electrification increases, manufacturers are seeking tyres that deliver a combination of low rolling resistance, exceptional grip, extended wear life, and precise handling. The newly launched MICHELIN Primacy 5 energy and MICHELIN Pilot Sport 5 energy have been meticulously engineered to fulfil these demands. According to Michelin, these tyres are designed to enhance electric vehicle range, reduce fuel consumption, and maintain high performance standards without sacrificing safety or durability. Both ranges have already received approval from leading global automotive manufacturers, reflecting their alignment with industry expectations.
Jean-Claude Pats, Director of the Automobile and Two-Wheel Business Line and member of Michelin’s Executive Committee, emphasised the significance of these developments: “These innovations reflect a profound transformation in mobility. Today’s tyres must combine performance, longevity and energy efficiency while supporting the transition to electrified vehicles. With MICHELIN Primacy 5 and MICHELIN Pilot Sport 5, drivers and manufacturers no longer need to compromise between performance, safety, durability, and efficiency. These new ranges demonstrate Michelin’s continued investment in innovation and our ambition to deliver technologies that support the mobility needs of today and tomorrow.”
