Caterham Project V prototype to be unveiled at Tokyo Auto Salon in 2026.

Caterham will reveal the first working prototype of Project V at the Tokyo Auto Salon on January 9, 2026.

The prototype will be shown alongside displays from development partners Yamaha Motor and XING Mobility. This vehicle is being tested as the company prepares for full production.

Built at the Tokyo R&D facility in Japan, the prototype is currently undergoing powertrain evaluations with the Yamaha Motor e-axle, as well as testing for chassis durability.

The prototype also helps test the CTP battery system, which uses cells in a special liquid for better cooling. This design improves thermal stability, energy density, safety, and performance.

In addition, the original Caterham Project V electric sports car concept will make its U.S. debut at the 2026 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas on January 6, 2026, in partnership with XING Mobility.

Kazuho Takahashi, CEO of Caterham Cars, said, “This is a significant milestone for Project V, as our prototype makes its public debut at the Tokyo Auto Salon. This next step allows us to start a full vehicle testing program with our technical partners. Our goal remains the same: to create a pure electric sports car that captures the true spirit of a Caterham.”
