Humax EV Charging and Rightcharge have formed a strategic partnership to transform home EV charging for fleet operators across the UK. The collaboration promises to deliver a more transparent and scalable solution by integrating the Humax MX7 Vehicle-to-Grid-ready charger with the Rightcharge payments platform, creating a unified ecosystem tailored for business charging at home.

The new system is designed to support company cars, fleet vehicles, and business-owned vehicles, with a particular focus on ensuring accurate reimbursement and a clear distinction between business and personal use. This approach addresses longstanding industry challenges associated with so-called ‘grey’ charging costs, where personal vehicles are inadvertently charged on company accounts due to trust-based or estimated reimbursement methods.

To combat this, the Humax MX7 employs advanced vehicle identification technology compliant with ISO 15118 PLC standards. Each time a vehicle is connected, the charger recognises its unique ID. In instances where the vehicle does not match a registered company car, the Rightcharge platform can automatically ring-fence the cost or block the transaction altogether. This level of oversight is designed to provide fleets with enhanced transparency, accuracy, and control over home charging reimbursements.

The integration also offers new security features for private users. Through the Humax Charge app, owners can activate a ‘registered-only’ charging mode, enabling them to pre-authorise specific vehicles. If an unrecognised vehicle—such as a neighbour’s car or an unauthorised user—is connected, the system can block the charging session and send an immediate notification to the homeowner’s smartphone. This helps safeguard against unauthorised energy use while ensuring the charger remains a secure asset within the household.

Vehicle identification at the charger level marks a significant advancement for fleet compatibility. Unlike traditional solutions, which often limit participation to certain vehicle models, the MX7 enables a broader array of vehicles to join the reimbursement ecosystem. Fleet managers stand to benefit from streamlined, scalable programmes that can accommodate mixed fleets with diverse vehicle types.

For fleet drivers, the partnership promises lower costs and greater convenience. Home charging is considerably less expensive than public alternatives and eliminates time lost at public charging stations during working hours. Drivers benefit from increased convenience, prompt reimbursement, and reduced out-of-pocket expenses, while businesses achieve lower operational costs.

Rightcharge further simplifies the process by consolidating public, home, and workplace charging into a single, HMRC-compliant monthly invoice. This provides fleet managers with comprehensive visibility into costs, usage, and carbon data, easing administrative burdens and supporting broader sustainability goals.
