Smart is celebrating the European premiere of the new #5, its first premium mid-size all-electric SUV. Set to arrive in the UK in Q4 2025, the Smart #5 merges advanced technology with practicality, representing a significant step towards future-oriented mobility.
Dirk Adelmann, CEO of Smart Europe, expressed pride in the Smart #5, which is built on an advanced 800V platform for enhanced efficiency and performance. This model showcases the brand’s commitment to innovation and engineering.
New All-Electric Portfolio Expansion
Following the success of the smart #1 and #3, the smart #5 now offers greater space and versatility than ever before. With an 800-volt platform, it delivers an extended range and ultra-quick charging capabilities, along with advanced driver assistance systems and a user-friendly cockpit.
Performance Options for Every Journey
UK customers can select from a variety of options, beginning with the entry-level smart #5 Pro, which comes equipped with a 76 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery and advanced comfort features. Higher models boast a 100 kWh lithium nickel manganese cobalt oxide battery, offering a range of up to 366 miles (WLTP) and rapid charging capabilities.
The smart #5 Pulse features dual-motor all-wheel drive and improved displays, whereas the Summit Edition emphasises adventure with off-road functionalities such as an electric trailer hitch. The smart #5 Premium delivers a refined driving experience with a range of customisation options.
Urban and Off-Road Ready
With five off-road driving modes and an acceleration from 0 to 62 mph in just 4.9 seconds, the smart #5 is designed for both urban driving and off-road adventures. Its 800-volt battery enables fast charging, reaching 80% from 10% in approximately 18 minutes, providing a WLTP range of up to 366 miles. A 230V outlet permits charging of electronic devices while on the move, making the smart #5 an ideal companion for families and outdoor enthusiasts.
Prepared for the Unforeseen
The smart #5 boasts advanced safety features such as V-shaped curtain airbags, cushion airbags, and integrated seat belts, demonstrating smart’s commitment to safety. Its steel-aluminium hybrid body enhances both performance and rigidity, while safety measures for the battery and passengers have been improved. The ADAS hardware also includes optimised functions, featuring smart Pilot Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go and Highway Assist, ensuring the vehicle meets UK road regulations.
Tested for Comfort and Performance
Smart is concentrating on tailoring its UK vehicle versions to meet customer expectations. The smart #5 has been put through rigorous testing in a variety of climate conditions and traffic scenarios.
It will be available for customers in the UK to order in Q4 2025, with pricing to be announced shortly.
