Hyundai Motor Company has unveiled the all-new NEXO fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) at the Seoul Mobility Show, signifying a significant advancement in hydrogen mobility.
The NEXO is a mid-size SUV that provides flexibility, efficiency, and safety with zero tailpipe emissions and an impressive driving range of over 700 km, refueling in just five minutes. Its safety features are crafted to achieve high ratings, ensuring peace of mind for both drivers and passengers.

This second-generation model showcases Hyundai’s 27 years of experience in fuel cell technology and their commitment to various electrification options, including battery electric vehicles (BEVs), hybrids, and FCEVs.
Design and Comfort Enhancements
Inspired by the INITIUM concept, the NEXO showcases Hyundai’s ‘Art of Steel’ design language, yielding a rugged appearance characterised by bold lines. Exterior features comprise distinctive ‘HTWO’ lamps and 4 Dot Lamps, with available colors such as Goyo Copper Pearl, which reflects Korea’s natural beauty.
Inside, the spacious cabin emphasises passenger comfort with features such as an island-type centre console, digital side mirrors, and enhanced legroom for rear passengers. Intelligent storage solutions and ambient lighting elevate the overall experience, while sustainable materials like bio-leathers and recycled fabrics showcase the NEXO’s eco-friendliness.
Significant performance upgrades include an increased total output from 135 kW to 190 kW, along with improved acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.8 seconds. Additionally, the hydrogen fuel cell stack now delivers a maximum gross power of 110 kW.
The NEXO’s fuel storage capacity has increased to 6.69 kg and features an advanced aerodynamic design, noise reduction technologies, and the ability to tow up to 1,000 kg in European models. The innovative e-Handling system adjusts motor torque for improved stability, while the Smart Regenerative System manages braking seamlessly.
Overall, the new NEXO integrates convenience and innovation, featuring a column-type shift lever and an FCEV Route Planner to assist drivers in efficiently locating hydrogen charging stations.
The NEXO features a Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC) with a 12.3-inch curved display that integrates driver information and infotainment, in addition to support for over-the-air updates, generative AI voice recognition, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The premium Bang & Olufsen sound system includes up to 14 speakers.
A head-up display (HUD) projects essential information onto the windshield, enhancing safety by minimising distractions. The centre console features a dual wireless charging system and is compatible with Digital Key 2 for keyless entry.
With the vehicle-to-load (V2L) function, users can power devices both inside and outside the NEXO. The digital center mirror (DCM) and digital side mirror (DSM) enhance visibility and reduce blind spots.
The Built-in Cam 2 Plus captures high-quality video while recording audio and features parking motion detection that lasts for up to four days. The in-vehicle fingerprint authentication system provides keyless engine starts and facilitates quick electronic payments, eliminating the need for traditional PINs.
Digital Key 2 enables access and starting through smartphones, supporting up to 15 devices, including Apple Watches, with features such as passive door locking.
The rear occupant alert system detects movement in the back seat to alert the driver if passengers are left behind. Engineered for top safety ratings, the NEXO features a multi-skeleton structure, up to nine airbags, and advanced technologies such as Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist and Lane Keeping Assist for enhanced protection.
The unit has various pressure settings, including PSI, BAR, and KPA, and comes with additional adapters for inflating other items such as sports balls, air beds, and more. You can pre-set the required pressure, and the unit will automatically shut off once it has been reached, ensuring you don’t overinflate.
