Honda has introduced a unique camping concept called the ‘Dream Pod’ to celebrate 30 years of the CR-V, one of the world’s best-selling compact SUVs. Inspired by Japan’s capsule hotels, this customised model accommodates two people and comes equipped with specialised camping gear and authentic Honda accessories for outdoor comfort.

The plug-in hybrid ‘Dream Pod’ provides an all-electric range of 79 km (49 miles) and operates silently with zero tailpipe emissions in EV Mode. It boasts 159 mm of ground clearance and advanced traction control for various terrains, ensuring safety and comfort in remote locations.

Central to the ‘Dream Pod’ is the EGOE Nestboard 650, which fits perfectly into the CR-V’s 617-liter boot. When the rear seats are folded flat, a double mattress unfolds for sleeping, while a concealed drawer reveals a cooking stove, collapsible sink, and utensil storage.

The interior features LED reading lights, pull-out side tables, USB charging sockets, and blackout covers for additional privacy. Honda Genuine Accessories, including a detachable Thule bicycle carrier and custom rubber floor mats, expand outdoor adventure possibilities.

Astrophotographer Benjamin Barakat was one of the first to test the ‘Dream Pod’, capturing stunning images of the night sky in the Italian Alps. He praised the comfort and adaptability the ‘Dream Pod’ offered for his work.

Since its launch in 1995, the CR-V has been a groundbreaking model that combines car-like handling with SUV practicality. Now in its sixth generation, it was among the top-selling SUVs in 2024, with over 1 million units sold in Europe. Nik Pearson from Honda emphasised the CR-V’s legacy of adventure and versatility, making the ‘Dream Pod’ a fitting tribute to its success.
