MOKE International, the acclaimed British car maker, has inaugurated its new manufacturing facility in Leamington Spa, UK, marking an important milestone in its 60th anniversary. This cutting-edge facility is designed to improve production efficiency and product quality, allowing MOKE to satisfy the rising global demand for its Electric MOKE. MOKE aims for over 500 units this year across markets such as the USA and the Mediterranean.
The opening event was attended by retail partners from Europe, the Middle East, and the USA, along with Labour MP Matt Western, who emphasised the growth of British engineering and MOKE’s international presence.
The Leamington Spa facility showcases MOKE’s commitment to innovation in the electric vehicle sector, having created numerous new clean-tech jobs and tripled its workforce. During the open day, MOKE presented new color options for the Electric MOKE, reinforcing its focus on sustainability and style.
Nick English, Executive Chairman, expressed excitement about bringing production back to the UK’s automotive heartland. Matt Western noted the importance of job creation in the EV sector and support for local suppliers.
This investment also highlights the development of homegrown talent through apprenticeship and graduate programs, benefiting the UK’s economy. The Electric MOKE is now available in several countries, including the USA, and has obtained the necessary certifications for sale in all 50 states.
With approximately 70% of the Electric MOKE’s components sourced from Europe, MOKE remains dedicated to sustainability. It has been invited to join Walpole, the governing body for the UK’s luxury goods sector, further enhancing its reputation for British craftsmanship.
