This is a pivotal moment for the American muscle car as the new 2025 Dodge Charger Daytona will be electric. While combustion models are on the way, featuring twin-turbo 3.0-litre six-cylinder engines, the focus now shifts from the traditional petrol-fed V8.
The new electric Charger definitely will have power. The electric vehicle (EV) range begins with 496 horsepower in the Dodge Charger Daytona R/T, rises to 670 horsepower in the Daytona Scat Pack, and is expected to increase even further with the upcoming Banshee model next year. The 0-60 mph and quarter-mile times will surpass those of their petrol counterparts.
But is this an improvement? The new Charger will feature four-wheel drive and is built on the Stellantis STLA Large platform, equipped with a 100.5 kWh battery pack. While the impressive power figures and acceleration times are noteworthy, concerns about typical EV drawbacks—such as increased weight and the absence of engine noise—persist.
