EV drivers earn over £400,000 with Ohme during energy flexibility trials

Ohme, the UK’s largest home EV charging company, has achieved remarkable success in its Winter Crowdflex trial, running from September 2024 to April 2025, rewarding electric vehicle (EV) drivers with over £400,000! This exciting initiative is part of the UK’s largest domestic energy flexibility study, encouraging participants to charge their EVs at home in return for fantastic rewards.

Under the guidance of the National Electricity System Operator (NESO), the trial saw an impressive 42% increase in overnight plug-in rates and a 53% jump in daytime rates compared to pre-trial levels, showcasing the power of engaging customers in this initiative. Ohme also experienced a low dropout rate, a testament to its appeal!

David Watson, CEO of Ohme, highlighted that by enhancing grid flexibility services, consumers could save an astonishing £10 billion annually by 2050. He stresses the importance of reaching out to even more customers to ensure we meet future flexibility needs.

Cathy Fraser from NESO shared her enthusiasm, noting that the CrowdFlex project offers invaluable insights into consumer behavior, paving the way for improved domestic flexibility in balancing the electricity network.

Funded through Ofgem’s Strategic Innovation Fund, Crowdflex involved partnerships with OVO, Ohme, and others, further driving innovation. Ohme’s dedication has earned them two recent awards from Business Motoring, solidifying their reputation as an official charger provider for leading automotive brands!
