The New Renault Clio Revealed

The new Renault Clio presents a sculpted, sensual silhouette with distinct Latin influences.

The Renault Clio has established itself as a benchmark in Europe over its 35-year history, remaining the best-selling model for the brand across five generations. Launched in 1990, its first model marked a significant quality improvement by adopting an actual name rather than a number.

With up to 29 cutting-edge advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) available, plus the OpenR Link multimedia system with Google built-in as standard available.

The Clio has established standards in design, comfort, safety, and multimedia features, while also emphasising emission reductions. It earned the titles of European Car of the Year in 1991 and 2006. With nearly 17 million units sold worldwide, it remains the best-selling French car of all time and continues to lead sales charts, being the top-selling car in Europe in the first half of 2025. In the UK, over 1.3 million Clios have been sold since 1990, with the fifth generation’s popular full hybrid E-Tech 145hp powertrain accounting for about 60% of sales in 2025.

In its spacious passenger compartment, the New Renault Clio offers an immediately visible upgrade on previous generations.

The newly redesigned sixth-generation Clio features a modern style and improved performance, now equipped with a full hybrid E-Tech 160hp powertrain. It boasts a low CO2 emission of 89g/km and combines fuel consumption of just 72.4 mpg. The interior highlights quality, using recycled materials, and includes a double V-shaped screen with the OpenR Link multimedia system and up to 29 advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS).

Driver Assistance and Safety Features of the New Renault Clio

The new Renault Clio features an extensive driver assistance package, including an automatic parking brake as standard across all versions. Depending on the trim, up to 29 advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) are available, with several making their debut in this model.

Key features include Active Driver Assist with intelligent adaptive cruise control, front and rear detection, emergency trajectory correction, automatic emergency braking in reverse, a safe-exit alert, and an emergency stop assist function. The high-definition reversing and 360° cameras make parking easier. The My Safety Switch allows drivers to activate or deactivate multiple ADAS from the dashboard.

Renault’s Human First programme, launched in 2023, improves safety for all road users. The Clio meets the upcoming General Safety Regulation 2.3 standards and features a driver monitoring system to detect tiredness and distraction. It also includes Safety Score and Safety Coach, which assess driving performance and offer personalised safety advice.

Another notable addition is Safety Monitor, a dashboard widget that safely displays brief messages while driving. Additionally, QRescue provides firefighters with vital information via a QR code in emergencies.
