Jaguar has finally unveiled its first new car since the controversial rebranding, and it’s an exciting reveal!
The car is called the Type 00 Concept and is meant to preview a four-door coupe that will be fully unveiled in late 2025. However, it stands out as something entirely different from anything Jaguar has produced before.
For starters, the design is extremely minimalistic, both inside and out. It features a massive grille at the front, although it won’t serve the traditional purpose of cooling an engine since this model will be electric. At the rear, the taillights are cleverly concealed within horizontal design elements, and interestingly, there is no back window!
The minimalism extends to the interior as well, where every surface is white, smooth, and straightforward. Aside from a long brass spine that runs throughout the cabin, there are very few elements present.
So, why has Jaguar chosen this path? Recently, Jaguar has struggled with innovation. The company was working on a replacement for the XJ in 2019, but that project was scrapped at the last minute. Since then, sales have been declining rapidly.
In 2023, Jaguar sold only 64,000 cars, while Porsche sold 320,000 and BMW sold a staggering 2.2 million cars in the same timeframe.
The question now is: will this bold gamble pay off? Stick with Mat to find out!
