The new Bentley Continental GT Speed is designed to make long-distance travel effortless. While it’s uncertain whether the ultra-rich still prefer using big luxury grand tourers for cross-continental travel over SUVs or private jets, this latest generation Continental GT would be ideal for such journeys. However, there is a downside. The new model is a hybrid, with official emissions figures of just 29 g/km of CO2, making it the most powerful road-going Bentley ever.

But the addition of hybrid technology adds weight to the car, pushing its weight to around two and a half tonnes. This raises the question: despite the increase in power to 782hp, does the new model offer a less dynamic driving experience?

To answer this, Top Gear Magazine’s Head of Car Testing, Ollie Marriage, took the new Bentley Continental GT Speed to the Alps to find out.
