Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has unveiled the fully redesigned Transporter at the IAA Transportation 2024 for its world premiere. Until 22 September, visitors to the trade fair have the opportunity to see the 7th generation of the successful product line at the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles stand in Hall 12. The new Transporter comes with more space, increased payload, increased maximum trailer weight, and better economic efficiency. It is equipped with state-of-the-art assist systems for excellent safety, as well as a well-thought-out cockpit and control elements for more manageable everyday work.
The Caravelle, the product line’s nine-seater Volkswagen bus, has also been presented simultaneously. For the first time in the history of the Transporter and Caravelle, these multi-function vehicles will be available with a plug-in hybrid drive and electric drives as an alternative to the range of turbocharged diesel engines. The new vans feature a straightforward design that follows the style of their iconic predecessors.
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is implementing its strategy of offering “the right Bulli for every customer” with the debut of the next-generation Transporter. The Transporter product line comprises pure commercial vehicles and the Caravelle series, while the Multivan is the family’s recreational and business van and has just launched as a redesigned California camper van. Additionally, the ID. Buzz and the ID. Buzz Cargo’s commercial vehicle version are the first electric mobility icons. Together, the Transporter, Multivan, and ID. Buzz form the broadest range of models in their class on the market.
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles offers the new Transporter as a panel van, a panel van “Plus,” a crew bus, and a double cab with a platform body and long wheelbase. The crew bus and panel van versions are optionally available with a high roof and an extended wheelbase. The Caravelle, designed for commercial passenger transport, is available in an independent, mid-range Life equipment specification and a top-of-the-line Style version, and also as the Panamericana all-terrain version.
In the redesigned cockpit landscape of the Transporter and Caravelle, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles combines the digital world of displays and controls with robust hard keys, ensuring that the vehicle’s control centre is easy and safe for professionals to use in any situation. The stowage volume in the panel-van Transporter has increased, and the maximum payload and trailer weight have been increased, as well.
Seven efficient drive versions will be available upon market launch, including three turbocharged diesel engines (TDI), a plug-in hybrid drive (E-hybrid), and three electric drives (e-Transporter and e-Caravelle), giving customers a wide range of choices to suit their needs. The TDI engines deliver varying power outputs, while the e-Transporter and e-Caravelle launch with different power outputs and battery capacities.
