Nissan showcased the capabilities of the All-New MICRA’s Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology during the recent SMMT Test Day, an important industry event for UK car journalists and content creators. The innovative technology was put to practical use, powering a customised ‘MICRA-wave’ designed to prepare delicious snacks for attendees.
For a gathering of hungry journalists, the Nissan team went above and beyond by creating a special Mount Fuji-themed ‘MICRA-wave,’ reminiscent of the Mount Fuji icons that adorn the vehicle’s center console and boot. This unique setup allowed them to serve ‘MICRA-chips’ to guests while they awaited the opportunity to test-drive the new all-electric MICRA around the UTAC Millbrook Proving Ground.
Any customer acquiring a new MICRA can leverage its V2L capability. All it takes is a simple adapter, available through Nissan dealers, which connects to the car’s charging port. This allows users to power or recharge a wide range of devices and equipment using a standard UK three-pin plug. The power is drawn from the car’s main battery, providing enough energy to charge laptops, inflate paddleboards, illuminate campsites, brew a morning coffee, or keep ice cream chilled in a portable fridge.
The new MICRA is now available at Nissan dealers throughout the UK, offered with two battery options. The lineup begins at £21,495 for the 40kWh Engage model, which has a range of up to 196 miles on a single charge (WLTP). Meanwhile, the longer-range 52kWh Advance model starts at £23,245 and can travel up to 257 miles on a charge (WLTP).
When it comes to recharging, the MICRA provides one of the best quick-charge solutions in its category. Utilizing a 100kW DC charger (or 80kW for the 40kWh version), the charging time from 15% to 80% takes just 30 minutes. To enhance charging efficiency, both battery options come standard with a heat pump, along with battery heating and cooling capabilities.
The latest iteration of the Nissan MICRA follows five previous generations and continues a proud legacy that spans over 40 years. While the all-electric version differs significantly from its predecessors, it has garnered positive reviews from automotive journalists, reinforcing its place in the longstanding history of the nameplate.
