Pricing has been confirmed for the latest British-built Qashqai crossover, now featuring an enhanced e-POWER powertrain.
Despite the significant benefits of improved fuel efficiency, performance, and lower emissions, the purchase price remains unchanged for most models. The N-Design and Tekna models see a slight reduction of £50.
The Qashqai’s unique e-POWER system drives the wheels solely with a powerful electric motor, while the 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine serves only to generate electricity for the battery. This setup offers the instant response and smooth performance of an electric vehicle, along with the convenience of petrol refueling.
The latest e-POWER iteration provides an even more electrified driving experience with key improvements throughout.
Fuel efficiency has improved by 15%, now achieving 62.8 mpg (WLTP), which offers a potential range of 745 miles. This translates to cost savings due to fewer trips to the pump for refueling.
CO₂ emissions have decreased from 116 g/km to 102 g/km, representing a 12% reduction compared to the previous model. This change also leads to a lower Vehicle Excise Duty (VED) banding.
Cabin noise has been reduced by up to 5.6 dB, allowing the Qashqai with New e-POWER to provide even greater refinement akin to an electric vehicle, including during motorway driving.
Power has increased by 11 kW, now reaching 151 kW (equivalent to an increase from 188 bhp to 201 bhp) when in Sport Mode.
Additionally, service intervals have extended from 9,000 miles to 12,000 miles, which contributes to reduced total ownership costs for customers.
Production of the Qashqai with the new e-POWER technology has started at Nissan’s Sunderland plant, which has built 4.5 million Qashqais since 2006—averaging a car every two and a half minutes. The first models will be available in UK showrooms from late August.
James Taylor, Managing Director of Nissan GB, expressed excitement about introducing the e-POWER technology. He highlighted the improvements in fuel efficiency, performance, and emissions at no extra cost, stating, “We are confident that the multi-award-winning Qashqai e-POWER will continue to be one of the UK’s most popular cars.”
