In mid-2023, Ford made waves in the automotive world with the unveiling of the Mustang GTD, a remarkable race car designed for the road. However, at that time, details about the interior were lacking, technical specifications were largely undisclosed, and the ambitious goal of completing a lap of the Nürburgring in under seven minutes appeared quite challenging.
Fast forward 18 months, and Ford has successfully navigated the Mustang GTD around the iconic German circuit, finishing with a few seconds to spare—and they believe there’s even more potential to unlock!
Top Gear’s Jethro Bovingdon will test-drive the Mustang GTD later this year, but as the first American brand to achieve a “Ring” lap time of under seven minutes, we believe it is the appropriate moment to take a comprehensive look now that the car is nearly complete. This in-depth review will cover every aspect of this unique Mustang, featuring insights from the project team leader.
You must also excuse Top Gear for not mentioning the unique “Spirit of America” edition, as when they came across this specific car in 2024, Ford opted not to disclose any details regarding it!
Now, let us pass it over to Jethro Bovingdon, Contributing Editor of Top Gear, who will share all the details regarding the Ford Mustang GTD…
