Practicality and performance rarely go hand-in-hand, but when they do, it’s exciting. Take the optional back seats in the new Porsche 911 GT3 Touring as an example—it’s a performance car that offers a touch of practicality.
On the other end of the spectrum, we have fully practical vehicles that have significantly enhanced performance. The Range Rover Sport SV and the Audi RS6 GT exemplify this combination.
The Range Rover Sport SV is the fastest version of Range Rover’s sportiest SUV, a successor to the impressive previous-generation Sport SVR.
Meanwhile, the Audi RS6 GT is a special edition of Audi’s high-performance estate, featuring completely bespoke bodywork and manually adjustable coilover suspension.
Both models are priced at over £170,000. But the question remains: are these truly performance cars, or are they just versatile vehicles that don’t quite reach their potential?
To find out, we turn to Ollie Kew, Deputy Editor of Top Gear Magazine, with some “assistance” from The Stig.
