Renault has announced that the Renault 5 E-Tech 100% electric is one of seven finalists for the Car of the Year 2025 award. This selection follows a review by a jury of 60 journalists from 23 countries, who assessed 42 vehicles. The winner will be revealed on January 10, 2025, at the Brussels Motor Show.
Renault has had a model among the finalists for four consecutive years:
- 2022: Megane E-Tech 100% electric
- 2023: Austral
- 2024: Scenic E-Tech 100% electric (winner)
- 2025: Renault 5 E-Tech 100% electric
Alpine is also competing this year with its new 100% electric city sports car alongside the Renault 5.
Originally launched in 1972, the Renault 5 was known for its modern design. The redesigned Renault 5 E-Tech 100% electric, released in 2024, is 3.92 meters long and offers a dynamic driving experience with advanced electric and digital features. Proudly built in northern France, it aims to be a benchmark city car for the energy transition.
The Renault 5 E-Tech 100% Electric is a modern take on the iconic original, set to be priced from £22,995 OTR when orders open in January 2025.
It will be available in three trim levels—Evolution, Techno, and Iconic Five—and two powertrains: a 120hp urban range and a 150hp comfort range. Featuring a striking design and innovative details like a bonnet-mounted charging indicator and a helpful avatar named “Reno,” it promises driving fun.
With advanced technology, including built-in Google services and bi-directional functionality for vehicle-to-load (V2L) capabilities, it offers two battery sizes and a heat pump standard. The Renault 5 E-Tech has a range of up to 248 miles and can recharge to 80% in just 30 minutes.
Following the success of the Megane and Scenic models, Renault is now focusing on the B segment with the Renault 5, which will be followed by the Renault 4 E-Tech 100% electric in 2025. These models are key to accelerating electric vehicle adoption and reinforcing Renault’s leadership in sustainable mobility.
