This is the Polestar 3! We’ve waited four years for Polestar to release the successor to the Polestar 2, and today, Carwow’s Mat Watson has his hands on an SUV that competes with the BMW iX, Audi Q8 e-tron, and Mercedes EQE SUV. But does it have what it takes to outshine them? Let’s take a closer look!

In terms of design, the Polestar 3 looks great! Up front, there’s no blanked-out grille, and Polestar has fully embraced the fact that this is an EV from the ground up. The sloping roofline also helps the car stand out on the road, making it one of the best-looking all-electric SUVs available today.

When looking at the interior, it’s important to note that Polestar shares close ties with Volvo. The Polestar 3 has a lot in common with the XC90. However, unlike the XC90, which is a seven-seater, the Polestar 3 is a five-seater, offering ample space for all passengers. The interior features a large infotainment screen in the center of the dash, running Google’s operating system, and a set of digital dials for the driver. The cabin is filled with soft-touch materials, making it an excellent place to be.

All editions of the Polestar 3 come equipped with a massive 111 kWh battery, and single-motor and also dual-motor models are available. The single-motor edition can produce 299hp and costs around £70,000. The dual-motor car has two editions—one that can produce 489hp and costs around £76,000, while the range-topping Performance Pack produces 517hp and costs around £82,000.

But can the Polestar 3 compete with the class leaders? Stick with Mat for this all-new review and see for yourself!

  1. ME Editorial comment: This is a bold statement indeed from Mat Watson of Carwow. And to be fair, Mat is well-versed in most vehicles on the roads today or just about to join the world’s streets! So this is a good watch and, as usual, informative, especially being yet another, albeit an excellent SUV, this time from Polestar, an arm of the Volvo Group!
