smart is expanding its product range with a third model, the smart #5, in addition to the smart #1 and smart #3. The smart #5 is a multi-purpose, mid-size SUV aiming to attract new target groups and consumers with an active lifestyle. The vehicle will be officially unveiled in Brisbane, Australia on August 28 and will be available in Europe from 2025.
Dirk Adelmann, CEO of smart Europe GmbH, stated, “With the smart #5, we have created our most spacious and versatile vehicle to date. The #5 will expand our portfolio and make the smart brand more appealing to customers in Europe.”
The smart #5 maintains the unconventional smart aesthetic while offering robust functionality. Its exterior design features a boxy, upright silhouette, a distinctive roofline, and outdoor elements. The vehicle is designed to provide ample space and premium comfort for users, reflecting the increasing demand among customers with active and flexible lifestyles.
Extensive tests, including off-road and winter tests, have demonstrated the smart #5’s outstanding outdoor capabilities and the performance of its electric powertrain. The vehicle will undergo further testing in preparation for its European market launch in 2025.
