Aston Martin has introduced the DBX S, its new flagship model. It features an engine enhanced with technology from the upcoming Valhalla supercar. The DBX S delivers an exhilarating driving experience with increased power, reduced weight, bold design, and a variety of exterior and interior upgrades that establish its unique identity.
Continuing Aston Martin’s tradition, the ‘S’ suffix signifies a high-performance version of an existing model, beginning with the Vanquish S in 2004. The DBX S exemplifies the brand’s commitment to lighter, more powerful variants, maintaining its legacy of high-performance vehicles.
CEO Adrian Hallmark noted that recent years have seen the introduction of next-generation sports cars and a new DBX, all featuring an in-house-designed infotainment system. The DBX S reinforces Aston Martin’s dedication to performance, luxury, and innovation.
At its core, the DBX S features an upgraded 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine, utilizing turbo technology from the Valhalla. This boosts output by 20 PS to 727 PS, resulting in a 0-62 mph time of just 3.3 seconds and a top speed of 193 mph. The modified exhaust system enhances the engine’s character, providing a thrilling driving experience.
The DBX S features an advanced power distribution system capable of sending up to 50% of torque to the front wheels and 100% to the rear, thanks to its innovative 9-speed ‘wet clutch’ transmission. This significantly enhances performance from a standstill.
The gearbox has been optimised for a more engaging experience. It features revised shift points that utilise a wider rev range and more aggressive downshifts in Sport and Sport+ modes.
Weight reduction measures enhance overall performance. The Aston Martin features an optional carbon fibre roof—the largest ever on an Aston Martin—that saves 18 kg and lowers the centre of gravity. Magnesium wheels, the first of their kind in the SUV segment, are also available. They are 75% lighter than steel and save an additional 19 kg.
The steering ratio improves by 4%, enhancing agility and reducing the turning circle to 12.0 meters. The refined suspension, which includes updated air springs and electronic dampers, enhances ride quality and stability. The standard electronic roll control limits body roll to just 1.5 degrees, while powerful carbon ceramic brakes deliver excellent stopping power.
Visually, the DBX S stands out with a black vaned grille, an optional honeycomb design, and vertically stacked quad exhausts that enhance the V8 engine sound. The interior showcases a bespoke ‘S’ theme featuring herringbone seats and includes a top-tier infotainment system with an 800w 14-speaker audio setup, along with an optional 1,600w surround sound system developed with Bowers & Wilkins.
Continuing the tradition of ‘S’ variants, the DBX S merges a lightweight design with improved performance for a luxurious driving experience. It is now available for order, with deliveries anticipated in Q4 2025.
