AC Cars, Britain’s oldest active vehicle manufacturer, has unveiled the first images of the impressive new AC Cobra GT Coupe. This is the company’s first official AC Cobra coupe set for production, and it draws on the company’s rich racing heritage. The model is based on an enhanced version of the existing AC Cobra GT Roadster platform, paying homage to the company’s legacy.

Inspired by AC’s early racing wins at the Monte Carlo Rally and the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the new AC Cobra GT Coupe incorporates motorsport-derived enhancements to create a unique AC Cobra model.

Blending the iconic AC Cobra look with a modern coupe profile, it introduces a brand-new model as the company expands its lineup. While retaining key elements from the Roadster, it is also influenced by the renowned AC A98 coupe Le Mans race car from 1964.

To celebrate the AC Cobra GT Coupe, AC Cars has announced details about the extreme Clubsport Edition, designed for exceptional track performance. Limited to just 99 units and equipped with a 799bhp V8 powertrain, these cars will be delivered to customers starting from the end of 2025.

Following the Clubsport Edition, a series production coupe will be available with a normally aspirated 450bhp (456 PS) V8 or a 720bhp (730 PS) supercharged option.

Speaking about the new model, David Conza, Chief Executive Officer of AC Cars, saying, “The reveal of the AC Cobra GT Coupe is a proud moment for us, and the story of a road-going AC Cobra coupe is one year in the making. To have been able to combine the timeless AC Cobra design into a car using the latest design and construction techniques breaks new ground for AC Cars. This means the limited Clubsport Edition will provide an incredible, racing car-like experience on either the road or the track.”

The distinctive shoulder line of the modern AC Cobra GT Roadster was carried over to establish a clear connection to the brand’s current styling code, while the historic AC A98 coupe served as a major inspiration. The unique Kammtail rear, introduced on the AC A98 coupe, was a design element used by leading Italian race teams and AC Cars in the 1960s.

The GT Coupe will feature an evolution of the potent powertrain, offering up to 450bhp (456 PS).

The limited Clubsport Edition will boast an impressive 799bhp (810 PS) to deliver an exceptionally agile and powerful road-legal car. Stripped down and refined, it is expected to be unrivaled in its class.

Built to be extremely lightweight and with exceptional torsional rigidity, AC Cars’ unique chassis construction is already suitable for competitive use. With further development from within the motorsport sector, the new AC Cobra GT Coupe promises a driving experience like no other.

Starting at £325,000 + taxes, and reservations for both the AC Cobra GT Coupe and Clubsport Edition are now open at the AC Cars website.
