It has a long wheelbase, wide tracks, a low centre of gravity, and a nearly perfect 50:50 weight distribution. The M5 Touring also has a more rigid body, improved aerodynamics, and chassis technology tuned explicitly for the M HYBRID drive system.
The M5 Touring is equipped with the M HYBRID system, which generates a maximum output of 727 hp and peak torque of 1,000 Nm—the available powerful performance both on the road and the track. Additionally, the partially electrified powertrain allows for nearly silent and locally emission-free driving with a range of up to 42 miles (WLTP). The Combined Charging Unit supports AC charging up to 11 kW.
The BMW M5 Touring also comes with an electrified drive system for the first time in its history. This model-specific version includes a high-revving 4.4-litre V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology and an electric motor integrated into the transmission, resulting in a combined output of 727 horsepower and peak torque of 1,000 Nm. This unique combination allows for almost silent and locally emission-free driving with a range of up to 42 miles (WLTP). The M HYBRID drive system also allows AC charging up to 11 kW, providing added convenience and flexibility.
It is an impressive vehicle with an electric motor and a V8 engine. It can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.6 seconds and reach 124 mph in 11.1 seconds. The M HYBRID drive provides a maximum system torque of 1,000 Nm, allowing exceptional mid-range acceleration. With the optional M Driver’s Package, the top speed can be increased from 155 mph to 189 mph, making for an exhilarating driving experience.
The new BMW M5 Touring’s electric motor has a high output, allowing it to operate with zero tailpipe emissions in all-electric mode, not just in urban areas but also over longer distances. In electric mode, it can reach a top speed of 87 mph and has an electric range of 38 to 42 miles in the WLTP test cycle.
The M5 Touring features a sports car-inspired cockpit with a flat-bottomed M leather steering wheel, illuminated M buttons, multifunction seats with extensive electric adjustment options, and the BMW Curved Display. The standard BMW Live Cockpit Professional includes the BMW Maps navigation system and the Augmented View function, contributing to an enhanced driving experience and ensuring control and comfort.
The new BMW M5 Touring comes with an upgraded version of the BMW iDrive, based on the BMW Operating System 8.5. The upgraded iDrive features touch control and natural speech recognition. It includes controls for climate functions such as temperature selection, airflow intensity, seat heating, and steering wheel heating, which can be operated via a touch screen using permanent buttons in the lower section of the control display or through voice command.
The standard Merino leather trim enhances the exclusive interior ambience. The BMW Interaction Bar has four-zone air conditioning, heated front seats, and ambient lighting with M-specific interior lighting, including Welcome and Goodbye Animation.
