Honda has officially unveiled the highly anticipated new Prelude e:HEV sports coupe in Europe, signalling the model’s revival after a 25-year hiatus. As the sixth generation of this iconic coupe, the Prelude features a sophisticated hybrid powertrain combined with Honda’s advanced S+ Shift technology, all wrapped in an aesthetically striking design reminiscent of aerodynamic gliders.

The Prelude is designed for agile handling, featuring a wide stance that boosts stability and advanced suspension technology from the high-performance Civic Type R. This includes adaptive dampers that respond in real-time to driving conditions, along with Honda’s Agile Handling Assist, which refines cornering and delivers a more responsive driving experience.

Inside, the Prelude is crafted to surround drivers with a cockpit-like environment focused on comfort and luxury. Premium materials are used throughout the cabin, highlighting Honda’s dedication to craftsmanship. The vehicle also features the sophisticated Honda SENSING safety system, which includes a range of advanced driver-assistance features designed to improve safety and awareness on the road.

Hans de Jaeger, Senior Vice President of Honda Motor Europe, articulated his enthusiasm about the Prelude’s comeback, highlighting its advanced engineering and the engaging driving dynamics that are sure to excite enthusiasts.

One standout feature, the Honda S+ Shift system, greatly enhances the driving experience by simulating rapid gear changes. This innovative system creates a virtual eight-speed transmission that connects drivers intimately with their vehicle, allowing for manual-like gear shifting. It includes advanced functionalities like rev-matching, which ensures smoother downshifts by automatically adjusting engine speed to match the lower gear.

The Prelude’s advanced e:HEV powertrain uniquely combines a 2.0-liter petrol engine with electric motors, producing a commendable output of 184 PS (135 kW). Drivers can select from a range of tailored drive modes—‘Comfort,’ ‘GT,’ ‘Sport,’ and ‘Individual’—allowing for a customizable driving experience that suits any mood or situation.

To enhance both comfort and handling, the Prelude comes equipped with an advanced multi-link suspension system, ensuring a smooth ride without compromising on performance. The driver-focused interior features a customizable 10.2-inch digital display and a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system that is fully compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The Prelude offers spacious interiors and a hatchback with 663 litres of cargo capacity. It includes advanced safety features for different driving conditions. Customers can choose from striking exterior colours, like the new Moonlit White Pearl, to suit their style.
