Once upon a time, a man named Christian founded a car company called Koenigsegg. He aimed to enter racing competitions to demonstrate the superiority of his new cars. Specifically, he prepared his road cars to comply with FIA GT1 regulations for the 24 Hours of Le Mans. In addition to this, he worked on a racing car adapted from his optimized road car to compete in the world’s most challenging endurance race.

Unfortunately, before the car could compete, the rules changed, and the production requirements for the GT1 class increased from 20 cars over several years to 350 per year, ending Koenigsegg’s Le Mans ambitions. The project was put on hold, and the car was sold to a Koenigsegg shareholder.

However, the unique CCGT prototype was auctioned in the summer of 2023 for £3.3 million. It has returned to Christian and his team for restoration work and is now ready to race again. A regulatory loophole might finally allow it to race at Le Mans.
