After successfully launching the all-new MINI family over the past year, the new MINI Cooper Convertible completes the brand’s latest model lineup. It will be available in two new petrol models and will begin production at MINI Plant Oxford later this year, returning after a nine-year hiatus.

Stefan Richmann, Head of the MINI brand, expressed pride in offering customers a true convertible in the current MINI family. The new MINI Cooper Convertible promises distinctive driving fun, boundless freedom, and great emotions, with its iconic design, modern technology, and connectivity.

Featuring clean surfaces, a fully automatic soft-top roof, and a minimalist yet innovative interior, the MINI Cooper Convertible offers drivers added spontaneity, as the roof can be dropped in seconds.

The new MINI Cooper Convertible interior design focuses on simplicity, clever design, and high-quality craftsmanship. The cockpit comprises three key elements: a sporty steering wheel, a central OLED display, and a newly designed toggle switch bar.

The cockpit textile surfaces are made from a newly developed knitted material using recycled polyester. Additionally, the optional Head-Up Display projects all relevant information into the driver’s field of vision, resulting in a cleaner and more streamlined dashboard.

The new central 9.5″ display in the cockpit allows the driver and front passenger to operate all vehicle functions conveniently by touch or voice. The temperature is permanently shown for the driver and front passenger at the left and right-hand edge of the screen, always integrated at the top level of the MINI Interaction Unit. The lower area of the OLED display is dedicated to Navigation, Media, Telephone, and Climate, so they can be selected anytime.

In the Home menu, other widgets are displayed in a thumbnail view to the left and right of the current menu function. Swiping up from the screen’s lower edge reveals a tool belt where favourite functions can be stored and called up rapidly. All other functions can be accessed via the menu, with the display returning to the default setting via the home button.

The toggle switch bar in the cockpit’s centre is a classic MINI feature. Five individually designed toggle switches provide direct access to the vehicle’s most important driving functions (parking brake, gear selector, start/stop button, Experience Mode toggle, and volume control). This eliminates the need for an additional gear selector, providing additional stowage space and wireless charging for a smartphone.

New MINI Experience Modes can be selected to change the interior ambience of the MINI Cooper Convertible. When the top is closed, two projector units behind the round instrument panel beam illuminated graphics with different patterns and colours onto the dashboard. Depending on the Experience Mode selected, the colour scheme of the light patterns and ambient lighting in the interior is changed.

In Go Kart Mode, the focus is on MINI’s racing DNA, with the colours dominated by black and red. Personal Mode offers a personalised interior design with the option to upload a personal photo via the MINI App. Core, Green, Vivid, Timeless, and Balance modes are also available on the MINI Cooper Convertible.

The new MINI Cooper Convertible will be manufactured at MINI Plant Oxford, with the first deliveries scheduled for early 2025. It will be available in three trim levels and have a starting price of £26,200 RRP.
