SEAT and CUPRA UK are celebrating a record-breaking year in 2024. Data from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) shows a 16.2% increase in registrations to67,180 vehicles, outpacing the market growth of 2.6%.
CUPRA UK achieved a record 30,398 new vehicle registrations, an 18.5% year-on-year increase, while SEAT UK reported 36,782 registrations, reflecting a solid 14.3% growth. This success resulted in a combined market share of 3.4% for both brands despite an 8% decline in private buyer sales in the broader automotive market.
Notably, CUPRA’s electric vehicle sales thrived, with Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) registrations growing by 38% and Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) registrations rising by 20%. CUPRA also surpassed 20,000 BEV registrations, driven by the success of the award-winning CUPRA Born.
Marcus Gossen, Managing Director of SEAT CUPRA UK, said they look forward to maintaining momentum into 2025 with the launch of the CUPRA Tavascan and Terramar. Wayne Griffiths, CEO of SEAT and CUPRA, emphasised the need for urgent action from the government and stakeholders to ensure a sustainable electric future for the industry.
