Collecting Cars has opened bidding for The M Collection, a carefully curated selection of over 25 collector-grade BMW M cars spanning more than four decades. With a combined value exceeding £1.5 million, it is one of the most comprehensive offerings of BMW M performance cars ever presented in a single auction.
The collection features a standout BMW M1, developed in collaboration with Lamborghini and produced in limited numbers—with only 399 road cars believed to exist. Finished in Henna Red, it boasts 16-inch Campagnolo wheels, flip-up headlights, and a Becker Mexico radio. With just 83,784 km and reportedly three owners, this M1 represents a significant piece of M car history.
Notable models from the Noughties include the BMW Z3 M Coupé, affectionately called the ‘clown shoe,’ and the revered E46 M3 CSL, known as the “holy grail” of M cars with only 1,383 units made. The collection features four Z3 M Coupés, including a 2002 model with the sought-after S54 engine, and four E46 M3 CSLs, recognised for their lightweight construction and racing pedigree.
The iconic E39 M5 is also featured, recognised for its V8 engine and six-speed manual gearbox, with an example showing just under 60,000 miles. Other highlights include a 1988 BMW E30 Convertible, a 1988 BMW E28 M5, a 2011 BMW 1M Coupé, and a 2020 BMW M2 CS.
Edward Lovett, Founder of Collecting Cars, stated: “The M Collection captures the spirit and innovation of BMW M over the last four decades. For collectors and driving enthusiasts, it’s a rare opportunity to acquire significant M cars all in one auction.”
- The M Collection follows other successful single-marque collections and concludes bidding on Sunday, April 27.
