Now in its third year, the Hyundai Great British School Trip focuses on careers, inspired by research that shows a disconnect between parents and the evolving job market. The study, commissioned by Hyundai Motor UK, reveals that while 96% of parents believe the workplace will significantly change in the next decade, 45% feel unable to provide career advice, and 30% struggle to discuss industries such as artificial intelligence and robotics.
To address this, Hyundai has collaborated with the National Space Centre and space scientist Dame Dr. Maggie Aderin to provide a virtual lesson for students in Years 8 and 9. This interactive lesson emphasises careers in space and their relevance to life on Earth.
The virtual lesson is available nationwide during National School Trips Week (28 April – 4 May), and participating schools can enter for a chance to win a visit to the National Space Centre focused on space technology and future careers.
Additionally, Hyundai has launched the Hyundai Future Jobs Trumps card game to encourage discussions about future roles and the skills required. Suitable for ages 9 and up, the game is available for free to parents and teachers.
Ashley Andrew, President of Hyundai Motor & Genesis UK, stated, “Our third year of The Hyundai Great British School Trip has shown how valuable real-world experiences are in preparing young people for future careers. With many parents seeking guidance and teachers facing numerous challenges, it’s crucial to expose students to the careers of tomorrow.”
