Plug-in hybrids are all the rage in Europe, and Škoda’s latest 200 kW Superb Hatch charges to the front of the grid as the brand’s most powerful combustion-engine model ever.

The new powertrain is available exclusively for the Superb Hatch.

Plug-in hybrids are expanding across Škoda’s lineup.
Since debuting the Superb iV in 2019, Škoda has electrified its range with the Octavia iV and, most recently, the Kodiaq hybrid. The proven 150 kW hybrid continues in the Estate, but this new 200 kW Hatch model is a different beast.

A new flagship with the iV badge
Under the skin, a 1.5 TSI petrol engine and 85 kW electric motor work in concert, drawing from a 25.7 kWh battery. The result? A mighty 200 kW and 400 Nm of torque—50 kW and 50 Nm up on the 150 kW model—thanks to engine upgrades and clever software tweaks. Expect punchy acceleration (0–100 km/h in 7.1 seconds), a 225 km/h top speed, and a hefty 2,000 kg towing capacity. The electric boost gives the Superb Hatch a real-world urgency that makes overtaking a breeze.

To rein in that extra muscle, the 200 kW Hatch gets beefed-up brakes—larger, ventilated rear discs and improved cooling up front. Charging remains rapid: up to 11 kW on AC and a swift 10–80% top-up in around 26 minutes on DC. Most other technical specs are unchanged, so you get all the practicality you expect from a Superb.

Growing popularity of plug-in hybrid powertrains
With over 68,000 Superb iV models already delivered and plug-in hybrids now accounting for a quarter of all Superb sales, it’s clear this electrified formula is a hit. The 200 kW Superb Hatch turns up the excitement for eco-minded drivers who won’t compromise on performance.
