DriveElectric has added new features to its salary sacrifice scheme for EDF’s SME business customers. The scheme now includes a Pod Point home charger, a lower cost electricity tariff, and 5,000 miles of free electricity upon purchase. The Pod Point 7kW Solo 3 home charger, awarded ‘Best Home EV Charger 2023’ by What Car?, can be included from £14 per month, with standard installation. The Solo 3 can charge EVs up to 3x faster than a standard 3-pin plug and has in-built safety features. The scheme already offers savings of up to 40% on EV costs.

Pod Point’s EV tariff, powered by EDF, offers customers one of the cheapest rates in the UK for home and EV usage. The zero carbon off-peak rate of 8.49p per kilowatt hour between midnight and 5am allows customers to schedule their EV charging. With the charge scheduling function, drivers can take full advantage of EDF’s off-peak EV domestic tariff. Customers also receive 5,000 miles of free electricity credited into their EDF account.

DriveElectric and EDF’s partnership offers customers a wide selection of EV salary sacrifice deals, ranging from compact city cars to large SUVs, providing up to 40% savings on an electric vehicle.

Customers can access Pod Point’s Exclusive EV tariff powered by EDF, which offers one of the cheapest electricity prices in the UK for both their EV and their home. The zero carbon tariff has an off-peak rate of 8.49p per kWh between midnight and 5am, combined with a competitive daytime rate, providing one of the cheapest overall EV tariffs. Pod Point’s charge scheduling function allows customers to benefit from EDF’s off-peak EV domestic tariff. Additionally, customers receive 5,000 miles of free electricity, credited to their EDF account. DriveElectric and EDF offer a wide range of EV salary sacrifice deals, saving employees up to 40% on an electric vehicle by exchanging part of their salary, reducing income tax and national insurance liability for both employees and employers.

Examples of cost reductions offered by salary sacrifice compared to a personal lease for an employee include a £206 monthly saving on a new MG4 SE, or a £210 monthly saving on a new Kia Niro 2 Nav, for a 40% taxpayer.

Employees could additionally expect to save over 30 tonnes CO2 equivalent over the lifetime of the vehicle when switching from an ICE to a battery electric vehicle.
