MG Motor UK has reached an important milestone by selling its 100,000th electric vehicle on Friday, October 31st.
Originally recognised for making British sports cars, MG marked its 100th anniversary at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed. The company combines over a century of automotive heritage with a focus on electric vehicles (EVs), offering affordable and enjoyable battery-electric options to customers in the UK.
“We’re proud that MG has helped promote electric mobility in the UK and support the country’s Net Zero goals,” said Guy Pigounakis, Commercial Director of MG Motor UK.
“Reaching 100,000 EV sales is a big achievement for our brand and shows the trust our customers have in us. We will keep expanding our lineup with more choices, better value, and advanced technology to make electric driving affordable for everyone.”
“While we have embraced new technologies, especially hybrid and electric vehicles, our brand still captures MG’s adventurous spirit. This includes offering the MG4 EV in a bright Volcano Orange, the powerful XPOWER model with 435 PS, and the unique arrow-shaped rear lights for the flagship Cyberster, which feature a subtle Union Jack design.”
In 2019, MG introduced the first MG ZS EV, a popular SUV priced at £24,995, making it an excellent choice for families purchasing their first electric vehicle. Since then, MG has launched more EVs, including the award-winning MG4 EV hatchback and the business-friendly MG5 EV estate car.
In summer 2023, MG revealed the UK’s first two-seat electric convertible. The Cyberster can go from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.2 seconds and features a striking design from the company’s London studio, linking MG to its sporty history while showing that EVs can be exciting to drive.
MG also features daring concept cars such as the MG Cyberster Black and the urban explorer MG Cyber X, highlighting its aim to develop a new generation of fashionable EVs with distinct identities.
The current MG electric vehicle range includes the MG4 EV, MG5 EV, MG IM5, MG IM6, and the flagship MG Cyberster. MG also offers a range of efficient hybrid and petrol models; the MG ZS Hybrid+ SUV has become the best-selling hybrid in the UK during the first half of 2025.
