The All-New BMW M5 Hybrid Is Here

The BMW M5 is entering a new era with an electrified drive system for the first time. The M HYBRID system gives the new BMW M5 a maximum output of 727 hp and a peak torque of 1,000 Nm, enabling acceleration of 0 to 62 mph in 3.5 seconds. The car features a new interpretation of high-performance car design with prominent wheel arch and side skirt extensions, a sculptural front apron, and model-specific surfacing around the C-pillar. The exterior design, along with the luxurious interior enhanced with M-specific features, accentuates the multi-layered character of the new BMW M5.

Standard-fit Adaptive M Suspension, Integral Active Steering, and M xDrive enhance handling and agility.

You can now place order for the new BMW M5, with the vehicle making its first appearance and world premiere at the superb Goodwood Festival of Speed, UK event in July 2024. Production will begin at BMW Group Plant Dingolfing in the same month, and the first UK customer deliveries are expected from November 2024.

The new BMW M5 features the M HYBRID drive system, which combines a 4.4-liter V8 engine with an electric motor specifically tuned for the M5. The V8 engine, mated to an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission, produces 585 hp and 750 Nm of torque, while the electric motor adds 197 hp and 280 Nm of torque, boosted to 450 Nm at the transmission input via a pre-gearing stage.

The M HYBRID system delivers instant power, thanks to the electric motor’s immediate response and seamless interaction with the combustion engine. The car boasts BMW M models’ characteristic linear power delivery and can reach a top speed of 155 mph (upgradeable to 189 mph with the optional M Driver’s Package).

The BMW M5’s sports exhaust system, equipped with electrically controlled flaps and dual tailpipes, enhances the driving experience with a captivating engine note. Additionally, the car is fitted with BMW IconicSounds Electric, providing a unique acoustic experience when operating in all-electric mode.

The vehicle has an athletic exterior with prominent wheel arches, side skirt extensions, and M design elements. Inside, there’s a sporty, driver-focused cockpit with premium materials and new design details.

In all-electric mode, the BMW M5 can reach speeds of up to 87 mph, with an electric range of 42 – 43 miles. The car features a high-voltage battery with 18.6 kWh of usable energy, supporting AC charging at up to 7.4 kW, upgradable to 11 kW from November 2024.

Order books open today, priced from £110,500 RRP. World Premiere of the all-new M5 at Goodwood Festival of Speed in July 2024 and UK customer deliveries start in November 2024.

Power distribution to the road is managed by the all-wheel-drive M xDrive system, which can be set to 4WD Sport mode, 2WD mode, or adjusted using the M Hybrid button to select between HYBRID, ELECTRIC, eCONTROL, DYNAMIC, and DYNAMIC PLUS modes.

The upgraded BMW iDrive, based on BMW Operating System 8.5, provides touch control and natural speech recognition, and now includes controls for climate functions, such as temperature selection, airflow intensity, seat heating, and steering wheel heating, accessed via touch screen or voice command.
